As Election Day nears, here is a breakdown of the Democratic and Republican Presidential Candidates.

Joe Biden

  • Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania in 1942

  • Attended the University of Delaware to double major in history and political science

  • Went onto Syracuse University to get his law degree

  • Practiced law in Washington and worked part-time as a public defender

  • Campaigned for New Castle County Council, which he won

  • Elected to the US Senate at age 29

  • Selected as Obama’s presidential running mate and became the 47th Vice President of the United States

  • Won the Presidential Medal of Freedom with Distinction

Donald Trump

  • Born in New York, New York in 1946

  • Attended Fordham University

  • Went onto University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Finance and Commerce to get his bachelor’s degree in economics

  • Took control of his father’s real estate company at age 25

  • Opened Trump Tower in 1983

  • Ran for president in 2000 and lost

  • Named the official representative of the Republican party for the 2016 presidential election

  • Won the 2016 election and is currently the 45th President of the United States
